Susan N. Denaro, Esquire
Susan N. Denaro, a native of Reading, Pennsylvania, is an attorney with the law firm of Georgeadis Setley. Susan’s practice is primarily concentrated in the area of adoptions, estate planning and estate administration, although she handles guardianships, real estate and family law matters. She has focused on legal issues for same sex couples since the start of her legal career in Reading in 1991.
Susan has proudly served as Solicitor for the Prothonotary of Berks County since 1994 to present. She is often appointed by judges on the Berks County Court of Common Pleas to serve as guardian ad litem for children in high conflict custody, adoption, abuse, and family law related cases. In addition, she is a trained mediator and has served as a court-appointed custody mediator for the Court of Common Pleas of Berks County since the inception of custody mediation in Berks County, having served on the court-appointed committee that organized the program.
Susan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1986 where she double majored in journalism and economics. She earned her Juris Doctorate in 1989 from the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana. The first two years of her legal career she worked for a large law firm in New York state where she was a member of its Bar. She was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania in 1991 and before the United States Supreme Court in 2009.
Susan currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Berks County Community Foundation. Before taking that position, she served on the Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, the Co-County Wellness Services, the Yocum Institute for Arts Education (Past President), and the Wyomissing Library Board (Past President). She served on the initial Board of Directors of the LGBT Center of Greater Reading and is currently an Honorary Board member and provides legal counsel. She is a 2021 recipient of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Take the Lead Award.
Susan lives in Wyomissing with her husband of almost 30 years, John Cullen, and their very energetic Havanese dogs, Elliot and Parker. They have a grown son who lives and works in Oregon. In her spare time, she loves to cook for family and friends, write, and travel.
